WRESTLING FOR A BLESSING:
TRADITIONS OF PRAYER IN THE HEBREW BIBLE

20TH CENTURY VOICES

Briji Waterfield

Mystics and prophets open up possibilities for all and are signs of hope. We will explore the lives of some from the last century to see what they reveal about our postmodern world, how it affects our contemplative journey and how they envision the future.

CARMEL – A SCHOOL OF CONTEMPLATIVE PRAYER

Julienne McLean

“Behold! I make all things new.”

Today there is a genuine thirst for spirituality in people’s hearts. The Holy Spirit is inspiring new movements in the world, not least of which is the emergence of lay spirituality and ministry. As religious, we wish to respond to the Spirit so that together with others who are searching for a way, we can develop a Christian spirituality for our times.

The Associates of the Christian Retreat, lay and religious, seek to reflect these movements of the Spirit in their daily life. We meet every two months to pray together, to reflect on the spiritual life and to support the community at a practical level. If you are interested in Associate Membership please contact us.

The Associates meet at the
House of Prayer from
11 am to 4 pm on Sundays.

Dates for this year’s meetings are:
3 February,
6 April,
1 June,
7 September,
2 November.
