’The Mind’s Long Journey to the Trinity’ - spiritual insights from Evagrius

  • The House of Prayer 35 Seymour Road East Molesey United Kingdom (map)

Led by Angela Tilby

Evagrius of Pontus was a 4th century pioneer of Christian Spirituality whose teaching has been obscured for many centuries. The recent discovery of his work shows him as a person of deep psychological insight, compassion and a surprising humour - all of which can help us to grow in self-knowledge and the knowledge of God. This will be a day of input, experiment and conversation.

Starts at 10am and ends at 4pm. Please bring a packed lunch.

This retreat is also offered online via Zoom.

Cost: £30

For more information or to make a booking, please e-mail the Administrator at admin@christian-retreat.org or use our contact us form.

Angela taught Church History and Spirituality for the Cambridge Theological Federation and now contributes to the academic programmes at Sarum College, Salisbury. She has written a book on Evagrius, ’The Seven Deadly Sins’ (SPCK 2009). She is a Canon Emeritus of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford and a Canon of Honour at Portsmouth Cathedral.
