Resting in Presence: An Intensive Journey into Centering Prayer

  • The House of Prayer 35 Seymour Road East Molesey United Kingdom (map)

Led by Jill Benet

This eight-day intensive retreat provides a profound opportunity to deepen your practice of Centering Prayer within a small community committed to silence, solitude, and presence. Rooted in the Christian contemplative tradition and inspired by the teachings of Fr. Thomas Keating, the retreat invites participants to rest in an environment, of prayer, silence, and transformation
Intensive retreats provide the space to settle deeply into the contemplative life. There will be extended periods of Centering Prayer, as well as teaching input, Lectio Divina, and Contemplative Liturgy. Time outside of group sessions will be held in silence, with ample opportunity for personal reflection, rest, creative activities or walking in nature. Whether you’re seeking to deepen your practice or to make space to listen more fully to the quiet voice within, this retreat invites you to open to the Divine—not through effort, but through presence.

Arrive in time for supper at 6pm on Sunday and depart after breakfast the following Sunday.

Jill has been part of Contemplative Outreach for many years and studied under its founder, Fr. Thomas Keating. She co-founded Silence in the City, a series of talks exploring the contemplative life, and has worked with teachers including Cynthia Bourgeault, James Finley, and Richard Rohr. She leads Centering Prayer groups, Introductory Days, Quiet Days, and retreats. Jill is also a trained teacher and guide in Inner Relationship Focusing, a practice of deep inner listening. She finds renewal in painting and walking among trees. Her work is rooted in the belief that prayer and creativity are not separate from life — they are ways of living it more fully.
